La Fondazione Carriero (Milán) presenta la muestra “Sol LeWitt Between the Lines”, una exposición comisariada por Francesco Stocchi + Rem Koolhaas y organizada en estrecha colaboración con los gestores del legado de la obra de Sol LeWitt. Una década después de la muerte de Sol LeWitt (Hartford, 1928 – Nueva York, 2007), “Between the Lines” pretende ofrecer una nueva perspectiva sobre la práctica del artista estadounidense, explorando sus límites, pero respetando las normas y principios subyacentes de sus ideas. Y señalando los momentos más interesantes del método de investigación y los procesos que pueden surgir. Con una considerable cantidad de trabajo que abarca toda su carrera -desde sus 7 famosos Wall Drawings y hasta 15 esculturas como Complex Form e Inverted Spiraling Tower, hasta la serie fotográfica Autobiography- y partiendo de las peculiaridades de sus habitaciones para la Fundación, la exposición también explora la relación entre el trabajo de LeWitt y la arquitectura.
“Between the Lines” se basa en una poderosa e innovadora clave, dirigida sobre todo a reformular la idea de que un trabajo debe adaptarse a la arquitectura, desafiando así la noción de la especificidad del sitio. Con la colaboración del arquitecto Rem Koolhaas -como comisario, por primera vez- en diálogo con el comisario Francesco Stocchi, “Between the Lines” se enfrenta a amplios aspectos de la obra de LeWitt, con el ambicioso objetivo de ir más allá de la división que tradicionalmente separa la arquitectura y la historia del arte y que caracteriza todo el cuerpo de trabajo del artista, dirigido más al proceso que al resultado final, libre de cualquier opinión estética o idealista.

La exposición en la Fondazione Carriero nace del deseo de explorar los límites del trabajo de LeWitt, considerando sus postulados como parte de un nuevo y más libre sistema de verificación, y para proponer una nueva armonía entre la figura tridimensional y la superficie bidimensional. La exposición es posible gracias a una estrecha colaboración con los gestores de la obra de Sol LeWitt y a préstamos de prestigiosas instituciones públicas, como el Whitney Museum of American Art (Nueva York), así como importantes colecciones privadas, como la Collezione Panza. Los dibujos murales que se exhiben en la Fondazione Carriero fueron realizados en colaboración con jóvenes artistas y estudiantes en Milán, bajo la estrecha supervisión de los actuales gestores de la obra de Sol LeWitt.
